Solar Batteries UK

Our battery storage solutions efficiently store any power that you don’t use directly, so you can make the most cost-effective use of the electricity your system generates.

Solar Batteries UK

At Green Team One, we can provide high-quality battery storage solutions. These batteries offer an efficient way to store excess energy generated by solar panels, meaning you can make cost-effective use of that energy.

Appropriate for both residential and commercial applications, batteries enhance energy independence and reduce reliance on the grid.

Make the best use of the power you generate

Everyone uses power at different times of the day, but the energy produced by solar PV is dictated by the rotation of the earth, the seasons, and the weather.

With a battery, you can store energy that you generate and don’t use, so that you can use it later.

Use less power
from the grid

By storing power so you can use it when you need it, you’ll use less electricity from your grid supplier.

This will save you money, as the price you pay to buy electricity from the grid is typically more than double the price they will pay to buy it back from you.

Make money from
the grid

With an agile tariff and the right settings on your system, you can set your battery to be charged overnight when power is plentiful and cheap, and then sell it back to the grid in the morning when the country’s power useage (and the price of electricity) peaks.

Help fight climate change even more

Helping the grid to “balance” in this way reduces it’s use of fossil fuels, since peak demand is generally met by using gas-fired power stations.

If you’re not using all of the power that your solar panels are generating, then that excess power will be sold back to the grid. This will be at a much lower rate than what you pay to buy power from the grid, so if you can save that power for later, when you will want to use it, then this can save you money.

Without a battery, when the sun is shining the middle of the day, much of the power that is generated will be sold back to the grid.

When evening comes around and you want to use power, you’ll have to buy power back from the grid at a more expensive rate.

In this simplified illustrative example the “house load” (the electricity being used by the house) is the same all day and night.

This obviously won’t be true for the average house, but it demonstrates the fact that without a battery you generally sell power to the grid during daylight and buy it back when it’s dark.

With a battery, the extra power that you generate when the sun is shining is stored.

This means that instead of being forced to “sell low, buy high”, you can store the power that you generate and make best use of it when you need it.

It is also possible with an agile tariff to charge a battery up overnight while power is cheap, and then sell it back to the grid in the morning when the price comes up.

FAQs

A solar battery stores excess electricity generated by solar panels for later use. The batteries that go with solar PV systems are made from lithium, and work by converting and storing electricity into chemical energy that can be later converted back into usable electricity.

As with most things, it varies depending on what you need and how much you want to spend.

The smallest battery we install holds 4.8kWh. These batteries can be stacked, so, if your requirements demanded it, you could have 10 of these, and a massive power bank of 48kWh.

The lifespan of a solar battery will vary depending on factors such as battery chemistry, usage patterns, and maintenance. The batteries we install all specify a cycle life of over 6,000 times, so if you charged them up and discharged them every day, their life would exceed 16 years.

Some of the batteries we install have a cycle life of over 10,000 times, which if cycled once per day would last over 27 years.

They typically come with a 10 year manufacturers warranty.

The cost of solar batteries varies depending on their capacity, brand, and other factors. Generally they start around £2,000, and can go as high as you like.

A solar battery can power certain appliances or circuits in your home, but powering the entire home would require a large battery capacity and careful energy management.

Yes, with the right setup, a solar battery can provide backup power during a power outage. However, this capability depends on the capacity of the battery and the critical loads you want to power.

Solar batteries generally require minimal maintenance. Periodic inspections are a good idea, and it’s also important to keep the battery at the recommended temperature range (though that is more a function of where it’s installed-usually not in the loft!).

Our Accreditation and Governance

All our installations, procedures and certifications are governed by the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) installer standards. As RECC Members, we have agreed to abide by the high standards set out in the RECC Consumer Code, following the consumer journey from start to finish. This also includes The Deposit and Workmanship Warranty Insurance Scheme Working with MCS defines, maintains and improves the quality of our installations by certifying low-carbon energy technologies – including, solar, battery storage and heat pumps.
